Ever since they made their debut, on April 21, Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus handsets have been selling incredibly well and we can totally relate. There’re pretty much the best looking models we’ve seen this year, not to mention the high end spec sheet, able to satisfy even the mos demanding users. However, these two are not the only Galaxy S8 models we’re going to see in 2017…
It seems that the South Korean manufacturer has also been working at the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, which, according to the rumors, will be introduced sooner than expected.
Don’t get too excited, though…
According to Value Walk, the Galaxy S8 Active will once again be an AT&T exclusive, just like the previous models did. Also, it’s very curious that Samsung decided to launch this phone, considering that last year’s Galaxy S7 Active, which was a rugged device, wasn’t able to justify itself as a “water-resistant” phone.
Currently, the Galaxy S8 Active goes by the codename of Cruiser, while the model number, SM-G892A, was spotted in the User Agent String a few days ago, says the same source.
In order to confirm this, the same number was also seen on Netflix, in an ad promoting the streaming platform’s HDR support for mobile.
What about the actual differences?
Even though the specs are still a mystery, we do expect to see the MIL-STD-810G standard, which means that it’s going to be a pretty sturdy device, able to deal with drops and falls in a way other smartphones can’t.
Finally, we’re also expecting a bigger battery, probably a few design tweaks, in order to obtain that rugged look and a couple of new colors, including at least one Camo finish.
