As the Mobile World Congress is getting and closer, we’re looking forward to seeing a lot of new details about the Samsung Galaxy S8! And it seems that it has already started, since an image with a device claiming to be the actual handset made the rounds online today, thanks to the folks over at GSM Arena.
Basically confirming some of the previous rumors, the smartphone seems to have a curved display, with incredibly thin bezels, and, most important, no home button!
But there’s else something missing as well!
If these two features were somehow predictable, there’s something raising some question marks: the lack of on-screen keys. As we all know, the South Korean manufacturer has been relying on a setup consisting in one physical home button and two capacitive keys surrounding it. Well, if this turns out to be the actual Galaxy S8, we’re really curious about where those keys went…
One variant is that Samsung put them on both sides of the logo and in the leaked picture they’re not lit, which could make sense, in some way or another. On the other side, let’s not exclude the scenario in which they’re gone, being replace by gesture functionalities, for Back and App Switching.
Currently, the manufacturer’s flagship is undergoing tests in China, which explains the Chinese characters on the display, but once again, don’t take it as granted.
It could be just the result of somebody’s imagination…
Finally, there’s also a big chance for this image to be fake, as it resembles way too much the Galaxy S7 Edge, if you ask us, so our recommendation would be to avoid getting too excited about this.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to make its debut next month, during the Mobile World Congress. We will be back with more details, as soon as anything new emerges!
